Learning is never confined in the four corners of a class. It is possible to discover new things aside from endless lectures from our professors. Annually, the College of Nursing through the initiative of the level one faculty is putting up an educational field trip which exposes the students to the historical sites and significant landmarks of our country.
It was early morn when I began packing my stuff. I was a sort of excited and overwhelmed on what I will expect during our field trip. Despite the excitement, I was a little upset because I do not have a personal camera which I could use to capture the sweet experiences I will have, but then my little sister told me, "Your eyes have lenses that can capture." We departed at around 9:00 in the evening.
Jan. 24, 2012. (Arrival)
The first place that we visited is the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). According to the resource speaker they deal with the movements of the planes below the land and it is their duty to alarm those who were in the earthquake prone areas as well as to those who reside near the coastal areas when a tsunami is going to happen. Next, we went to University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD), the center of excellence in education where our great leaders earned their degrees. After a spun-out tour of the school we stopped by the House of Congress, where our congressmen work, fortunately we were able to see them in action. We even saw Hon. Edcel Lagman, Hon. Manny Pacquiao, and Hon. Ryan Singson.
Jan. 25, 2012. (Second Day)
On the second day, we visited the Manila Planetarium, which programs astronomical audio-visual shows and static exhibitions. Unfavorably, we were not able to take pictures in that wonderful museum because the use of image-capturing gadgets were not allowed. After a long stargazing at the Planetarium, we dropped by the National Historical Institute where we saw historical artifacts and relics. Then we went to the Lights and Sounds Museum wherein a brief history of the country was depicted by life-size statues enlivened by lights and realistic background sounds. After we discovered the history of the country we segued to Fort Santiago where we saw the legacies left by Spanish Era, passed by the Malacanang Palace and took quick rest, at the picturesque view of the Manila Bay.
Jan. 26, 2012. (Third Day)
On this day we paid a visit at the overwhelming place of Tagaytay City wherein one can see the majestic view of the Taal Volcano from a distance. After gazing at the foggy atmosphere of Tagaytay we had a short visit at UP Los Banos then we headed to the Museum of National History they exhibited the diverse flora and fauna of the country. Then we went to the Makiling Botanical Garden and immerse ourselves with the natural beauty of the place. After feeding our minds with so much information and our memory with lavish experiences we took the time to rid of all the worries in life and made ourselves vulnerable once again at the Enchanted Kingdom. After that breathtaking experiences from awesome rides we offered ourselves selflessly to our lolos and lolas at the the Golden Acre Home for the Aged, where in we rendered them songs, and dances which they appreciated so much. After that heart warming experience we had our last minute shopping sprees at the Trinoma and SM Edsa then went home.
Those were indeed the memories and experiences we had that will always be remembered. The faces and places we've seen will always be a vital part of the mileage of growing up.
